Summary

The MS Public Health Laboratory (MPHL) is looking to secure a 3-year contract for the treatment and disposal of chemical waste. The chemical waste for pick-up includes chemical liquid waste generated as by-products by specific instruments and expired chemicals used as part of the testing procedures. Chemical waste must be treated and disposed of in accordance with OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response regulations, 29 CFR 1910.120 and adhere to DOT regulations during transport. For each pick-up, an estimate will be obtained for each chemical in need of pick-up. MPHL will coordinate with other MSDH programs, including OEPR, Water Supply, Oral Health, Entomology and Rad Health to include their expired chemicals. Radioactive, temperature controlled, biohazard or additional items requiring stabilization will not be included as a type of waste.
