Summary

Contractual services are needed to perform annual balance calibrations in the Thompson Public Health Laboratory (MPHL). Balances are used to weigh media, chemicals and other compounds needed for the testing process. Annual calibration will ensure the amounts weighed using the balances are accurate. Documentation of calibration is needed for regulatory compliance in accordance with CLIA and FDA regulations respectively. The MPHL has weights that require re-certification every three years. The weights are used as standards for accurate weighting of materials. Additionally, the MPHL has NIST thermometers that require calibrations to ensure their measurements are accurate, reliable, and traceable to national standards.
