Summary

The County of Santa Cruz, General Services Department (GSD) is accepting sealed bids for the Ben Lomond Transfer Station Improvements Project. The scope of work consists of installation of a new 14,000 square foot canopy roof over the existing recycling area, including the rerouting of a portion of a sanitary sewer line; spill containment upgrades, safety improvements, and a new 1,000 square foot canopy roof over the existing household hazardous waste area; repairs to the existing concrete retaining wall / push wall; electrical upgrades to the facility; and interior structural retrofits to the existing transfer station building.GSD will conduct bid openings on March 5, 2026, at 2:30pm through the videoconferencing platform, Microsoft Teams, instead of in-person attendance. Bid results will be posted to the online procurement portal after bid opening.The County is only accepting electronic bid submissions.

Full description

The Ben Lomond Transfer Station was built in 1990 and is in need of updates and improvements. The Transfer Station operates under a State of California Solid Waste Facilities Permit from CalRecycle. The Transfer Station accepts 100 tons of refuse daily which is trucked to County’s Buena Vista Landfill. Materials accepted at the Ben Lomond Transfer Station are Class III non-hazardous residential, commercial, and industrial waste.
