Full description

Mohave County Flood Control District purchased 100 acres just north of the Mohave Wash & Rattlesnake Wash confluence with the intent of contributing infiltrated stormwater to the aquifer. A series of 4 basins was designed across the 100-acre parcel to infiltrate as much as 144 acre-feet of stormwater. At this time, funding restrictions only allow for the construction of two basins, shown as Option 2 within Attachment A - Design Plans and Attachment B - Design Report. The detention basins will provide flood control benefits to the City of Kingman Wastewater Treatment plant downstream. Impounded storm runoff may also contribute to the aquifer by infiltration into the ground for a period of time after a storm.Funds for the basin design and construction are from Congressionally Directed Spending, supplemented by budgeted money from the Mohave County Flood Control District.
