Summary

The City of Fort Myers (City) requests submittals from interested and qualified Respondents to provide:Construction of a 6" thick, 5' wide, 3,000' long sidewalk on the north side of South Street from US 41 (Cleveland Ave) to SR 739 (Fowler Street).

Full description

This sidewalk installation is part of a larger initiative called SRTS. SRTS (Safe Routes to School) is a program funded by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) aimed at making it safer for children to walk and bicycle to school. The program focuses on removing barriers to walking and biking, such as unsafe infrastructure and lack of educational programs. It encourages communities to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety, promote physical activity among children, and reduce traffic congestion around schools. The program also seeks to address the safety needs of children already walking or biking in less-than-ideal conditions, integrating safety, traffic relief, health, and environmental awareness.
