Summary
The City of Norfolk (the “City”) is seeking qualified firms to provide urban design and planning services for various potential public and private projects throughout the City and as more particularly described in the Scope of Work below.
Full description
The City’s current population is approximately 245,000 citizens spread across more than 120 neighborhoods. The City is 95% developed, with a downtown urban grid, early streetcar suburbs and more conventional suburban subdivisions, as well as numerous waterfront communities. Norfolk’s population is diverse as are the needs of Norfolk residents, communities, and businesses. The City is a hub of industry, innovation, and culture, hosting a range of cultural, medical, educational, and economic resources found nowhere else in the region. Norfolk is home to the world’s largest naval base, the 3rd largest port on the east coast of the United States and numerous shipyards. Looking to 2050, as captured in Norfolk’s Comprehensive Plan, NFK2050, Norfolk is envisioned as “a resilient city, an equitable city, a family city, a regional city, and a growing city.”
